Mark has been with Cook Travel Station since 1988. To better understand how the accounting system worked, he began learning the technical side of an consultant's job. Over the years, Mark implemented the transition between accounting software packages and reservation systems several times. Along the way, he began escorting groups and participating in FAM trips, which built a good knowledge of many destinations. In 1994, he completed a 2 year course to become a Certified Travel Counselor (CTC). At this point you could say that Mark is a verified travel consultant, but Mark feels the process is never fully complete. Keeping up with changes in technology and destinations is a on-going job. To Mark, a travel consultant's job is matching a customer's wants and needs to a travel itinerary. Combine the changes in technology and destinations plus the changes in customer's wants and needs, and Mark would say that change is probably he most challenging part of the job. Then again, change is also what makes his job very rewarding.
