Rhino in Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
I traveled to Kenya in April for a stay in 3 separate areas. The flight arrived late into Nairobi, and we checked into Hemingways, part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and it was a great way to start the trip! Our guides met us in the airport and whisked us through customs to our private transfer car.
The next morning we flew to the Lew Wildlife Conservancy, and area known for the world's rarest zebra, the Grevy Zebra, as well as the black rhino, or which we saw both in abundance. We stayed at the Lewa Safari Camp, and the staff at this camp were fantastic. The highlight of our stay was seeing a just born giraffe attempting to stand for the first time!
Then on to the Loisaba Conservancy for a stay at the Loisaba Tented camp. The views from the tent's wide veranda were the best and awe inspiring! The sightings of leopard, elephants and hippos were incredible.
After a short flight to our last stop, the Maasai Mara, we made our way to the Sand River Masai Mara camp. Set on the banks of the Sand River, there was plenty of wildlife in the camp! I enjoyed a visit to the Maasai tribe village and learning about their customs. We had great encounters with elephant herds and a pride of lioness with their cubs.
Would highly recommend a visit to this beautiful country!
